Z3D® ABS – 1.75 mm (various colours)
High-quality ABS filament for durable technical applications:
Z3D ABS is a strong, dimensionally stable and heat-resistant filament, ideal for functional parts that must withstand mechanical stress, heat or continuous load. ABS provides excellent impact resistance and reliable heat resistance.
Key ABS Properties
- Material: ABS – impact-resistant, durable, heat-resistant.
- Filament diameter: 1.75 mm
- Material weight: see table below.
- High temperature resistance (approx. 90–100 °C depending on the part).
- Good layer adhesion, clean surface quality – ideal for technical components.
- Easily smoothable with acetone vapour (vapor smoothing) – also applies to our ABS+.
- Available colours: see colour selection or table below.
Cleaning filament
The cleaning filament (100 g net, loose) helps with easy colour and material changes, especially when switching from higher-temperature materials such as ABS.
Sample – ABS test material
The material samples (30 g net, loose) are delivered in a randomly chosen available colour.
Colour requests cannot be considered. When ordering multiple samples, duplicate colours may occur.

Recommended Print Settings
- Hotend temperature: 230–260 °C (depending on printer – test cube recommended).
- Print bed: glass, PEI or textured build plate.
- Bed temperature: 90–110 °C for optimal adhesion.
- Enclosure recommended – ABS tends to warp in drafts.
- Light brim or raft recommended for large prints.
- Layer height: 0.1–0.3 mm for strong, clean results.
Typical Applications
- Functional & replacement parts (e.g. brackets, housings, mechanical components)
- Parts exposed to thermal stress
- Automotive components & technical covers
- Prototyping & workshop parts
- Toys, drone parts, hobby models
- Parts requiring acetone vapour smoothing
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- Does ABS require a heated bed?
- Yes, a heated bed at 90–110 °C is strongly recommended to prevent warping.
- Can ABS be printed without an enclosure?
- It is possible, but not ideal. An enclosure significantly improves layer adhesion and reduces warping issues.
- Does ABS produce odour while printing?
- ABS releases fumes during printing. Proper ventilation is recommended.
- How can I achieve a very smooth surface?
- Acetone vapour smoothing allows you to smooth ABS and our ABS+ for a refined, glossy finish.
