Hight quality FLEX 3D-Printer Filament Material in 2.85mm
TPU 95A Filament 2.85 mm – Flexible & Printable
Our 2.85 mm TPU 95A Filament (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is the perfect entry into flexible 3D printing. With a hardness of Shore 95A (comparable to a shopping cart wheel or shoe heel), it offers the ideal balance: It is soft and stretchable but possesses enough stiffness to be reliably processed even on printers with Bowden extruders (e.g., Ultimaker 2+/3/S5, BCN3D).
Why TPU in 2.85 mm Format?
Flexible filaments are often difficult to print because they can buckle inside the guide tube. Here, 2.85 mm filament has a huge physical advantage over 1.75 mm: Due to the larger diameter, the filament strand is significantly more resistant to buckling. This allows precise control of material flow even with elastic materials.
- High Wear Resistance: Extremely abrasion-resistant, ideal for mechanical parts.
- Chemical Resistant: Resistant to many oils, greases, and solvents.
- Impact Tough: Absorbs shocks and vibrations excellently.
- Shore 95A: Stretchable up to 580 %, yet easy to print.
- Excellent Layer Adhesion: Parts are practically indestructible along the Z-axis.
Technical Processing Instructions
Although TPU 95A is forgiving, the golden rule for flexibles applies: Print slowly! Avoid too many retracts to prevent nozzle clogging. TPU loves a direct, continuous material flow.
Recommended Parameters (Z3D TPU 95A 2.85 mm)
- Hotend Temperature: 220 °C – 240 °C
- Print Bed: 40 °C – 60 °C (Adhesion is usually very good on glass/PEI)
- Print Speed: 20 – 40 mm/s (Consistency is more important than speed)
- Retraction: Disable or keep very short (max. 1-2 mm on 2.85 mm Bowden systems)
Applications for 2.85 mm TPU
- Gaskets, O-rings, and seals.
- Protective cases for smartphones or tools ("Bumpers").
- Vibration dampers and feet for devices.
- Wheels and tires for RC models or robotics.
- Orthopedic insoles and shoe soles.
