HIPS filament (High Impact Polystyrene) is a versatile 3D printing material that can be used both as a standalone filament and as a dissolvable support material for ABS. It is lightweight, impact-resistant, dimensionally stable, and can be dissolved in D-Limonene without residue - ideal for complex geometries and technical applications.

Printing & Material Properties

HIPS is a technical thermoplastic that behaves similarly to ABS - but is easier to print. It provides good layer adhesion and is suitable for both functional parts and support structures for ABS prints.

Optimal Printing Settings for HIPS

• Nozzle temperature: 230-250 °C
• Heated bed: 90-110 °C
• Build chamber: enclosed recommended (for best results)
• Cooling fan: 0-20% (minimal cooling)
• Speed: 40-60 mm/s

Tip: When used together with ABS, HIPS is the perfect dissolvable support material - simply dissolve it in D-Limonene after printing without leaving residue or damaging the ABS surface.
